Since 1978, our office has been providing and sometimes building, Lincoln Logs, Ltd. quality packages. In those days, more of the packages were self-built for a variety of reasons, and today, more and more people are looking for a 'ready to live in home.'
It's interesting to watch the changes over the years. Back in the late 70's, early 80's, most people could not afford to purchase the package AND pay someone to build it. Mortgages were harder to get from ANY institution, so if you wanted a log home, chances are, you were going to pay for it with your savings account, and use your own expertise to build it. It showed a great deal of determination to take on such a task. Today, most people work such a schedule that it does not pay for them to take the time away from work to pursue this 'dream.' They are every bit as determined to have a log home, but it makes no sense to lose money at their job to take on a task that they might be uncomfortable or less proficient in finishing.
Whatever the situation, whether you build it yourself, use a contractor who has worked with us over the years, or choose a contractor you know and trust, we offer support from the day you begin the order process until the final nail has been driven home.
Something we offer at J & G Log Homes is being able to work with a scale drawing of your 'dream' home. Lincoln Logs prides itself in being able to offer you anything you can imagine, but their drafting department is in Chestertown. It became apparent that we could eliminate a major amount of time and energy by offering this service here. At least you can visualize your rooms with appropriately sized furnature to determine if they are too big or too small. This draft is then sent to Lincoln Logs so they can provide an accurate quote for your prospective home. The turn-around time for a price quote is usually only a few days, and depending on the complexity, sometimes sooner.
We can introduce you to individuals who have worked with us over the years for the various phases of your construction. This enables you to be your own General Contractor, if you wish, and save up to 25% of the cost of building your home. Or you might choose to work with one of our builders, who are capable of taking your particular project from the ground up, working with you every step of the way to be sure you are getting exactly what you want.
Once your home has been delivered, no matter who is building it, we will continue to come around to check to be sure everything is running smoothly and that all construction is progressing as it should. We want your home to be constructed correctly and without any problems. Most of the time, problems are non-existant, but sometimes a problem or question comes up and we are here to help solve it. To that end, J & G Log Homes offers in-house training seminars for both the interested homeowner and construction crews. This compliments the construction manual and video that comes with each package sold by Lincoln Logs. Just as Lincoln Logs, Ltd. brings all of the dealers together once a year for their national sales convention, we offer these seminars to reinforce old, good habits as well as introduce new concepts and information. Let's face it, we need to explore new ideas and concepts or we might still be using spike nails to hold our packages together.
Bottom line - we want you to be happy. This is a substantial investment and we understand the importance of it in your lives. We want you to become part of a 'family' of log home owners - The Lincoln Logs, Ltd. Family.
